Why Mailcraft Exists
When setting up notification emails on Shopify, merchants face an absurd dilemma. Shopify's default templates look plain and outdated, yet almost every email app on the Shopify App Store demands sweeping administrative access to your store: reading your customer lists, viewing recent order histories, tracking catalog revenues, and injecting third-party tracking scripts directly into your storefront.
We asked a simple question: why does a notification styling tool need to read your customer database?
It doesn't. Styling an order confirmation or shipping update is a templating task, not a database operation. Mailcraft was created to prove that independent e-commerce tools can deliver world-class aesthetic craft without compromising store security.
The Zero-Permission Architecture
Mailcraft operates under a strict, non-negotiable principle: zero Shopify OAuth scopes requested (scopes = "").
Unlike legacy apps that route order metadata through private cloud servers, Mailcraft compiles clean, valid Shopify Liquid code right in your browser. You copy the generated template code, paste it into Shopify's native notification settings, and save.
Because your notification templates run entirely within Shopify's native Liquid engine:
- Mailcraft is mathematically incapable of accessing your customer records, financial analytics, or catalog data.
- Your storefront remains 100% free of external JavaScript bloat, tracking pixels, or speed penalties.
- Your templates keep working indefinitely even if you uninstall Mailcraft or stop using the app.
An Independent Project
Mailcraft is not backed by venture capital, nor is it an enterprise conglomerate with a bloated sales team. It is built and maintained as an independent software project by a passionate product designer and engineer.
Being independent means we answer only to our merchants, not to quarterly venture metrics. We don't need to lock you into endless recurring monthly subscriptions for software you rarely touch once configured.
